A Series Dolcetto

A Series Dolcetto

2023

Fresh, bright & savoury medium bodied red. Immensely satisfying slightly chilled.

$28.00

    Description

Planted at Wirrega Vineyard in Mundulla in 2003 – this is a bittersweet story about the joy of the finished product, & why didn’t we do it sooner!?

Hailing from Piedmont in North West Italy, specifically from the village of Dogliani, a few miles south of the areas most revered wine village of Barolo. Dolcetto (meaning – little sweet one) is anything but sweet, unlike some famously marketable Australian wines which might suggest otherwise. Designed to be enjoyed young & fresh, due to the lower acid & tannin level beside Nebbiolo which demands ageing.

A striking & vivacious colour of deep ruby, with a nose that is lifted & energetic. Notes of maraschino cherry, black plum, bitter almond & a hint of spearmint draw you into a medium bodied palate of immense satisfaction. A blanketing coat of fresh, fleshy summer berry & red stonefruit quickly dissipates into a gentle linger of bitter almond, cherry pip & spearmint, thanks to Dolcetto’s signature fine, drying, dusty tannins.

Serve with a slight chill. Pairing beside hard rustic foods such as pizza, pasta, cheeses & cured meats is not necessary, but strongly recommended.
