2022 OG2 Shiraz Cabernet 1.5L MAGNUM

2022 OG2 Shiraz Cabernet 1.5L MAGNUM

2022

Mount Benson, South Australia

A wine made to celebrate 100yrs of the Goode family's tenure of the farm known as 'Wangolina'.

$121.00

    Description

A one-off, limited-release wine to celebrate the 100th year of the Goode family arriving on the farm known as Wangolina in 1923, whilst also celebrating the 21st birthday of the winery.

OG2 references the sheep brand for the property, used right up until 1993.

A 50/50 blend of the best fruit of the 2022 vintage. This Shiraz Cabernet is a stylistic nod to the first wine to come from the family vineyard in 2002. De-stemmed & gently extracted into a new hogshead oak barrel, where it rested for 18 months before bottle.

Intense, focused aromas of summer berry compote (raspberry, mulberry, blueberry, strawberries, cassis), with a fine thread of cedary oak, telling a story that this wine is serious.

The nose carries onto the palate showcasing a dense core of fruit, with a suppleness that makes it easy to revisit. Shiraz’s bright mid-palate balances superbly with the darker fruit edges of Cabernet, with the finely tuned fruit & oak-derived tannins made to feel almost invisible, as it gently tapers with hints of black pepper, chalky minerality & a lick of salivating acidity.
