Our Goode Breeding
The Goode family arrived in Kingston in the late 1800’s and established 'Wangolina Station' in 1923 breeding Shorthorn cattle and Merino sheep. Working the land for many years John & Jan Goode, along with daughter Anita planted and established the Wangolina vineyards in 1999.
There were few plantings in the Mt Benson Wine Region at the time with Mt Benson Vineyards and Cape Jaffa Wines leading the way. The Goode family planted the traditional varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
In 2001 Anita harvested and made the first vintage from the Wangolina vineyard and since then has never looked back. With plantings now including Pinot Gris and Gruner Veltliner, plus a nursery block of trial varieties for the future.
Taking ownership of the property in 2015, Anita along with the valued assistance of her retired father John, manages the winemaking and vineyards as well as running a commercial cattle business that consists of Shorthorn and Angus cattle for the Australian and international markets.
